People’s Choice Award Voting is Open!
Voting for the People’s Choice Awards in the 2024 Australian Timber Design Awards has opened. The People’s Choice Award is intended for participants, friends, family, and industry affiliates to cheer the Australian Timber Design Awards participants on and show their support for our Awards!
Supported by Pentarch Forestry, the People’s Choice Award has been held every year since 2000 and is open yearly once the blind judging for the Australian Timber Design Awards (ATDA) is completed.
Tickets for the Awards Presentation Gala Dinner are now on sale for the 2024 Australian Timber Design Awards, which will be hosted at Sydney’s Walsh’s Bay, Pier 2, on Wednesday, October 16 – get your tickets here.
People’s Choice Award Winner 2023
Boola Katatjin is one of the world’s great buildings. Not only is it the Southern Hemisphere’s largest mass timber building, but Perth’s first timber building has also received a raft of awards, including the Engineers Australia Project of the Year, the Australian Institute of Architects Daryl Jackson Award for Educational Architecture, and the National Award for Sustainable Architecture.
But beyond the sum of its parts — the $135 million building designed by Carey Lyons from Aspect Studios and supported by Perth-based Trent Woods, Officer Woods – and local design firms Fulcrum Agency and Silver Thomas Hanley — gives the 50-year-old campus a new heart.
The building’s structural system incorporates nearly 1800 pieces of mass timber, with Chris Palandri, the Multiplex Regional Director responsible for the project, claiming that 2,143 tonnes of timber was used on the project.
